A Brief History of Android Version From Cupcake To Lollipop

Since its launch in 2008, Android operating system has progressed so quickly that it’s easy to forget all the up-dates and objectives it achieved with each new edition. The Android OS Platform has released 39 edition updates to the public, chock-full of countless feature enhancements, improvements and fixes.

Information about Yearly Android Version updates

  • The very 1st Android smart phone, the HTC Dream was introduced in Oct 2008.
  • In 2009 there are three Android updates, beginning with Android 1.5 Cupcake on April 30th.Then next Android Version 1.6 Donut was launched on Sept 15th after that version 2.0 Eclair was declared on 26th October.
  • Android 2.2 Froyo was announced in 2010. This version bringing support for WiFi Hotspots. In the same year 2.3 Gingerbread was also released which offering NFC compatibility and internet calls.
  • Android 3.0 Honeycomb was announced in Feb 2011, this version have tablet friendly interface. Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 was launched on October 2011, this version offering Holo design language
  • In 2012, Android Version Jelly Bean 4.1-4.3 was launched. This version bringing very good feature such as a Project Butter, Google Now as well as Improved assistance for non-english speaking users
  • Android version 4.4 KitKat was launched on October 31st 2013. It bring heady things, KitKat 4.4 introduced enhancements such as Immersive method and Wireless printing,
  • And Finally, we get to the latest release, Android version 5.0 Lollipop
